What happens at your first visit
The visit is about an hour with one physical therapist, who stays with you throughout.
- 01
Step 1: Before you come
The front desk checks your benefits and calls you. A short form asks for your name, contact details and plan. It does not ask about your condition. Your therapist asks that in the room.
- 02
Step 2: With your therapist
The five-step assessment: your story, your movement, hands-on tests, what we found and a plan. Bring your referral or surgeon's protocol if you have one.
- 03
Step 3: Before you leave
You get your first exercises on paper, and we book your next visit if you both agree you need one.
- 04
Step 4: After the visit
We send a written note to your referring clinician, if you have one and you agree.
What to wear and bring
Wear
Clothes you can move in. Shorts for a hip or knee, a loose or sleeveless top for a shoulder, a top that shows the back of your neck for a neck.
Bring
Your referral, surgeon's protocol or discharge papers, imaging reports, a list of your medicines and your plan card.
Ask
Anything. If a word or a letter on a name tag is unclear, your therapist will say what it means.
What is not decided on day one
We do not ask you to commit to a number of visits, and we do not start a treatment you have not agreed to. After the exam, your therapist tells you what they found and what they suggest. You can take the plan home and call us.
You can stop or pause any part of the exam
You choose whether we write to your referring clinician
You get the estimate in writing before the first visit if you pay yourself
