Questions people ask

Do I need a referral?

In Kentucky, you can start without a referral. Your plan may still ask for one. Call us with your plan card and we will check before you book.

Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicare?

We bill many kinds of plans, including most PPO plans, Medicare Part B, Medicaid, workers' compensation and auto injury coverage. Your plan decides what it pays. We check your benefits and call you before your first visit.

What if I pay myself?

We give you a written estimate before your first visit, and you pay for each visit on the day. If your plan may reimburse you, we give you a detailed receipt to send in. Your plan decides whether it pays.

How long is a visit, and who treats me?

Your first visit is about an hour with a physical therapist, who stays with you throughout. Later visits can be shorter. A physical therapist, not an assistant, treats you at every visit.

How many visits will I need?

That depends on your exam, your goals, any protocol from your surgeon and how you respond. We review the plan with you as we go and tell you when we think you are finished.

What should I wear and bring?

Clothes you can move in, your referral or surgeon's protocol, imaging reports, a list of your medicines and your plan card.

Will it hurt?

We work within what you can tolerate. Some movements and exercises can be uncomfortable. Tell us, and we change what we are doing.

Do you offer video visits?

Some follow-up visits can be by video if you are in Kentucky when we meet, because that is where we are licensed. Your first visit is in person.

Do you treat work or auto injuries?

Yes. If you were hurt in a crash or at work, get emergency care first. Tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care. We explain how your bills are handled before you start.

What do the letters after your names mean?

PT is the state license to practice, DPT is the doctoral degree, FAAOMPT is a manual-therapy fellowship from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists, and OCS is board certification from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Your therapist will explain any letter you ask about.

Still have a question?

Send it and we will answer on the next working day.
